Accessibility

Cybersecurity careers should be open to everyone, and so should the portal that leads to them. The Government of the Punjab is committed to making this website accessible to the widest possible audience, including people who use screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, magnification, or other assistive technologies, and people with visual, motor, cognitive, or vestibular impairments.

Accessibility is treated as part of the portal's design, not an afterthought: new pages and features are built against the practices described below, and reported issues are triaged alongside functional defects.

We aim for conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, the internationally recognised standard for accessible web content. WCAG covers four broad principles — content must be perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust — and Level AA is the level generally adopted by government websites worldwide.

The portal is reviewed against these guidelines during development using a combination of automated checks, manual keyboard and screen-reader testing, and colour-contrast verification.

Measures already built into the portal include:

• Full keyboard navigation — every interactive element (menus, links, buttons, form fields, accordions) can be reached and operated with the keyboard alone, in a logical order.
• Skip links — a “skip to main content” link lets keyboard and screen-reader users jump past the header and navigation on every page.
• Visible focus indicators — a clear, high-contrast outline shows which element has keyboard focus at all times.
• Reduced motion — the portal honours your operating system's “reduce motion” preference: decorative animations, tickers, and parallax effects are minimised or disabled automatically.
• Semantic markup — pages use proper landmarks (header, navigation, main, footer), a logical heading hierarchy, and labelled form controls so assistive technologies can interpret the page structure correctly.
• Text alternatives — meaningful images carry alternative text, and purely decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers.
• Colour contrast — text and interface colours are chosen to meet WCAG AA contrast ratios, and information is never conveyed by colour alone.
• Responsive, zoomable layout — content reflows on small screens and remains usable when zoomed to 200% or more, without horizontal scrolling of body text.

We are transparent about the areas still being improved. At the date of this statement:

• Some imagery and video on the portal is placeholder media pending final photography and production; captions, transcripts, and final descriptive text for this media will be added as the finished assets are published.
• A small number of decorative animated elements (such as the scrolling keyword ticker) are being refined for users of older assistive technology, although they are already pausable and honour reduced-motion settings.
• Urdu-language content is being expanded; where a page is currently available only in English, an Urdu version is planned.

Beyond what the portal provides, your own browser and device offer controls that can make browsing more comfortable:

• Browser zoom — press Ctrl and + (Cmd and + on macOS) to enlarge the whole page, and Ctrl/Cmd and − to reduce it; Ctrl/Cmd and 0 restores the default size.
• Text size — most browsers let you raise the default font size under Settings → Appearance, which this site respects.
• Operating-system settings — Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS all provide magnifiers, high-contrast or inverted-colour modes, screen readers (Narrator, VoiceOver, TalkBack), and a reduce-motion switch that this portal honours.
• Reader modes — browser reader views work well with this site's article-style pages if you prefer a simplified layout.
